Sharon Kambale BSW, Registered Social Worker

Sharon is a Clinical Social Worker with five years of mental health experience. She provides counselling and psychoeducation to children, teens and adults. She is trained in CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) and trauma-informed care. Sharon has experience focusing on family and relationship therapy, substance abuse and life transitions. In addition to providing counselling services, her work involves collaborating with community stakeholders to develop programs that encourage cultural sensitivity and anti-oppressive practices. Sharon provides an approach that is client-centered, fostering a safe environment for healing and personal growth. Currently completing her Master’s Degree in Counselling at Yorkville University, she is passionate about promoting mental health access and equity. Krista is a Registered Psychologist and has worked in clinical private practice setting since 2007. Krista resides locally and is the mom of four, including one child with special needs.

Krista has a broad range of experience. She works with adults, teens and children and provides parenting support. She provides individual, couple, and family-based intervention, treatment, diagnosis, counselling and support. She has worked with clients from preschool-aged to the elderly and provides counselling to families and couples.

Krista has experience working with a culturally diverse population. Krista provides individual and family-based counselling to those struggling with 2SLGBTQIA+ issues.

Krista is comfortable and experienced working with clients from a variety of family structures including nuclear, step-families, same-sex, and polyamorous families. She recognizes that each family requires an individualized approach and works to ensure the counselling meets the needs of all family members.

Krista recently completed training in Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) to counsel those living with chronic pain. She is also invested in working with those who are living with and adapting to a diagnosis or chronic illness themselves or of a family member.

Krista has experience using a variety of empirically (research) based diagnostic, assessment, intervention, and treatment strategies in many areas including anxiety, depression, parenting, family relationships, work/life balance, stress, life transitions (marriage, death, divorce, blended families, and adapting to life with a disability/diagnosis), prenatal/postnatal struggles, parenting a child with special needs, and child/infant loss.

Krista is passionate about working with clients to come up with a unique and individualized plan. She bases this plan on a client’s unique values, beliefs, and strengths and works alongside clients to set goals and implement plans to achieve those goals.
